  • What is Virtual Host?
    Virtual host is a virtualized server created using latest virtualization technology. Here the
    base hardware of a system is virtualized, allowing multiple guest operating environments to run directly on top of the hardware. Each Virtual host behaves as a stand alone dedicated server having its own allocated hardware resources.

  • Which underlying virtualization technology is used in your infrastructure?
    Microsoft Hyper-V

  • Do you give high availability features in your offering?
    Yes. High Availability feature is bundled with all plans of virtual host.

  • Can I Install/Uninstall Programs and run Windows Services?
    Yes, you will have full control over your Windows Virtual Server. You will be able to install
    and run any program supported by the operating system

  • Is Operating system (OS) bundled in each plan of Virtual Host? Can I change the OS in between the contract period?
    Yes windows OS is bundled in each plan of Virtual Host, if customer wants to change the OS in between the contract period then it has to pay separate installation charges for that.

  • What are the Virtual Host Plans offered from GIDC?
    GIDC offers four different plans of Virtual Host having different hardware and
    services specifications.

  • Can I connect to my Windows Virtual Server using Remote Desktop/Terminal Services?
    Yes, you can connect to your Virtual Host Server using Remote Desktop. Remote Desktop is a feature built into Windows that allows you to connect and manage remote server systems.

  • How many other Virtual Server accounts will share the hardware with me?
    Each customer is allotted a set amount of disk space, CPU usage and memory. A customer is not able to go over these set limits thus eliminating the possibility that customers will be able to negatively effect the performance of other Virtual Host accounts by consuming more resources than they are allotted.
    Microsoft Hyper]V software Intellect evenly distributes Virtual Host accounts across
    powerful hardware objects in direct correlation to the available resources available on the
    particular server.

  • How many IP addresses do I get with each plan of Virtual Host?
    Each plan of Virtual Host is bundled with one secure IP.

  • Is my Windows Virtual Server Protected with a Firewall?
    Each and every Virtual Host Server is protected by Net protect suite which is combination of Firewall & IPS.

  • Can Virtual Host plans be upgraded in terms of RAM & Storage space?
    No, plans are not scalable in terms of RAM & Storage space

  • I don't want Virtual Server in High Availability mode. Do you have any plan in non HA mode?
    Yes we also offer Virtual Host in non HA mode.

  • Can I have different environments of windows in virtual server?
    Yes, customer can have any environment of windows in the virtual host, like Windows-
    2003/2008 .Std or Windows- 2003/2008 Enterprise.

  • Can I get RHEL based Virtual Host from GIDC?
    As of now all Virtual Host plans are based on Windows environment, soon Linux based
    Virtual Host plans will be introduced.

  • How fast will be my server?
    All Virtual Host Servers are plugged to 100 mbps port on Network Switch port for public

  • Can GIDC install & manage virtual servers on my own hardware hosted in your Datacenter?
    Yes GIDC can provide such services but that will not fall under this product offering,
    those things will be considered as customized offerings.

  • What RAID level is provided in SAN bundled in each plan of Virtual Host.
    All plans of Virtual Host have RAID 5 SAN

  • What is the policy written for backup included in Virtual Host plans?
    Included Backup under each plan of Virtual Host is under Daily incremental & weekly full

Implementation FAQs
  • In how many days can I get the Virtual Host service if I opt for it?
    GIDC takes 3 business days to provision Virtual Host service from the date of receipt of
    confirmed PO.

  • Do I need to do some formalities to avail this service after placing an order with GIDC?
    Yes. Customer needs to fill up a service provisioning questionnaire (SPQ) for configuring
    ports, and various OS and hardware related services.

Billing FAQs

  • Are there any shortterm contracts with Virtual Host?
    There is minimum contract period of 3 months. Customer can extend it or can migrate to
    other Virtual Host plans after finish of contract.

  • How I check if there is overage on a Internet Data Transfer plan bundled in Virtual Host opted by us?
    You can log in to the data transfer reporting portal provided by GIDC to see the data
    transfer on a monthly basis against the plan bundled. If your data transfer size exceeds the subscribed quota, you will be charged overage only for the excess amount over and above your bundled plan.

  • How much I have to pay if I decide to come out of the service in between the contract period?
    Customer has to pay full contract amount in case customer decides to leave at any point of time in between the contract.

  • What should customer do if overage is observed continuously for two months?
    Customer should consider upgrading his Virtual Host plan if he observes an overage
    continuously for 2 months. Customers can contact his account manager for up gradation of their plans to higher plans.
